Eco-friendly baby care brand Baby Amore raises funds to create an omnichannel shopping experience.
12 February, Chennai: Founded by Hameed Imthad and Abdul Wahab in 2019, Baby Amore is a startup that delivers premium baby care products to the Indian market. It offers over 2000 products from 100 different brands through its e-commerce store and recently opened a concept store in Chennai. The company raised an undisclosed amount from GetVantage and Klub aimed to expand its operations to offer an omnichannel shopping experience.
Baby Amore is a platfrom that offers logistical support and exposure to sustainable and eco-friendly baby care brands through partnerships. It started when Hameed Imthad and Abdul Wahab recognised the gap in the Indian market for sustainable and safe infant products. The firm today claims to have over ten thousand dedicated clients. It chooses its partners through rigorous quality-check processes to ensure the products deliver the quality they promise.
“We started Baby Amore by selling diapers and gradually expanded our services as the brand got accepted amongst Indian parents. We partner only with brands that offer sustainable, premium and eco-friendly products without compromising on infant care and safety”, says Hameed Imthad, Founder, Baby Amore.
In 2020, the company received close to 200 orders per month. The initial days of the pandemic disrupted their supply chain causing severe delays. Like many firms at that time, Baby Amore experienced a major impact on its revenue. While the impact was significant, Wahab recalls that they could bounce back as the products fell under the essentials category.
It was essential to gain customer trust to recover from the pandemic. The company implemented safety measures for sanitised deliveries and packaging. Their partners hold GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certificates. Promoting these practices helped Baby Amore build customer trust and soon grow to receive over 2000 orders per month.
Apart from that, the firm focused on offering a seamless purchase experience through a robust website that is user-friendly and allows the customer to place orders, make a payment and track its status.
The firm raised an undisclosed amount from GetVantage and Klub in 2021. It aims to use this funding to expand its businesses and offer an omnichannel shopping experience to customers. The aggressive brand-building strategy involves technical upgrades of the website and launch mobile app for seamless customer experience and setup of concept stores across Chennai and other metro cities. The concept store aims to enhance the customer experience. It serves as a medium for the customer to touch and understand the product quality before buying. The stores will emit the brand’s ethos of providing sustainable and eco-friendly products.
Additionally, Baby Amore aims to expand its catalogue to include more brands from across the world. It envisions working with more international brands and spreading awareness about making sustainable choices for children.
“After two years of being a digital-first brand, the funding from GetVantage and Klub will help us expand our operations to newer markets and enhance customer experience through concept-driven stores,” says Abdul Wahab, Founder, Baby Amore.
The baby care industry is to grow exponentially in the next five years at a rate of 11% CAGR. There is also a growing awareness amongst millennial parents to make choices that protect their children and the environment. Parents today are conscious of the ingredients and materials used in baby care products. Baby Amore intends to ease this stress by leveraging its e-commerce capabilities and also expanding its services to international markets to maximise the reach of safe baby care products. It launched its products in the UAE in July 2021 and expects to reach Singapore and Malaysia by Q3 or Q4 of 2022.
