The term ‘having wings’ has never been more appropriate than with the iCONECT software platform, one of the Most Recommended Technology Solutions, built on a foundation of technical excellence which dates back 15+ years. The company of 40+ employees located in San Francisco, California, and London, Canada is now spreading its wings in more than just eDiscovery. As the market continues to evolve with environmental changes and technology advancements, client’s expectations have also increased. Changes brought by Covid-19, people’s increased comfort in the use of comprehensive tech devices and the accessibility to information has given an opportunity for the iCONECT platform to evolve.
The iCONECT platform is often used to ingest electronic or paper documents, build an index of the contents of those documents and allow the users to then search, sort, organize, tag, print, or share those documents with others. The platform has been used in some of the world’s largest and most complex legal cases (such as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (BP), JFK archives, Toyota seatbelt, and NFL concussion cases) and continues to shine (as per iCONECT’s tagline) with “Making Information Accessible”.
CEO and iCONECT founder Ian Campbell says,
“We are continually looking over the horizon at opportunity – not only opportunities in the legal space but opportunities where our core platform can provide secure information accessibility.”
As per industry analysts, on average, people create 1.7MB of data every second. This rapidly growing volume of electronically stored information (ESI) makes manual document review and information retention virtually impossible. eDiscovery platforms enable individuals to quickly comb through troves of data by automating document review, employing AI to identify trends, and providing collaboration tools for discovery processes. This is significant when taking into account that this rise in data is NOT just a legal challenge, but also a challenge for virtually every business as they look for ways to both control growth and retain business intelligence.
Why iCONECT?
The iCONECT platform continues to lead in the eDiscovery market while also resolving these business challenges for other industries with modules that focus specifically on FOIA, business intelligence retention, breach analysis, and legacy data digital transformation.
PRIVACY is the new normal
When it comes to privacy, the iCONECT FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) module, called COVER, has been built from the ground up to identify entities within documents and gives the option to a user to folder, extract, or redact those entities.
The COVER module is built to help manage the needs of GDPR, CCPA and DSAR, all regulatory compliance guidelines for businesses. COVER can identify PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and PHI (Protected Health Information) from over 51 countries, opening the door to solving these compliance and privacy issues globally.
iCONECT-rKIVE
As data operations continue to generate more data, business intelligence can often get lost in hard drives, backup tapes, email correspondence, the archived paper of retired employees.
“Imagine the ability to set up a lake of intelligent data that contains the information from all of those data sources with the ability to search and identify relevant information in seconds for a project, case or legal issue,” says Campbell.
The iCONECT-rKIVE module is created to do that. It gives corporations the ability to create a repository or archive from which relevant information can be found. The information can then seamlessly move over into the iCONECT document review platform for the full review. When the project will be completed, the business intelligence related to that project can make its way back into the central archive for use and reuse in future cases. It is the ideal solution for those who find themselves involved in multiple litigations or projects.
Data processed with rKIVE can include information that is structured in a series of forms, which can be challenging. iCONECT has another module called XTRACT.
Legacy Form and Document Data Extraction
XTRACT allows administrators to build templates that identify the X, Y coordinates that can be directly linked to fields of data that create a fully searchable and filter-driven archive of form content.
“Let’s imagine the ability to take thousands of forms and convert that into a CSV seamlessly. That creates a very strong business case for anyone dealing in legacy form data,” says Campbell.
The same methodologies can also be applied to unstructured data such as correspondence, receipts, invoices, ss, statements, or other business communication. The platform can identify phone numbers, addresses, credit card numbers, passport numbers, etc., in the same way as COVER. Also, it can redact that information or can extract it into metadata fields to create a solid business workflow.
iCONECT understands that companies have existing workflows and tools on which they rely heavily. In light of this, iCONECT has developed a “RESTful API” that allows the platform to interact with other tools and data. This gives iCONECT the advantage of integrating as a component of an existing workflow to help enhance and optimize without forcing a complete rework of proven technology workflow success.
iCONECT is Spreading its Wings
Campbell summarizes, “ediscovery will always be our core focus at iCONECT. However, we are always looking over the horizon for ways in which iCONECT can lend its expertise and technology to other business sectors beyond legal. It truly does have wings, and we’re excited to see in which direction iCONECT will soar next.”
