In Candid Conversation with TBF “Lindsey Myers” Founder, Concrete Blonde Consulting spoke about her professional journey and gave a sneak peak about her life.
1. Kindly brief us about your professional journey and what kind of ethics, principles and manner of working you observe while managing the business operations?
I’ve been in the PR industry for about 15-years. I started as an intern at a boutique PR firm in East Hampton, NY and worked my way up to equity partner. From there I launched another division of that firm in NYC and moved to Manhattan, NY. A few years later, I went out on my own and started Concrete Blonde Consulting.
As an agency who works with several different businesses the ethics, principals and manner of working is always different depending on who the client is and their specific company culture.I particularly enjoy working with start-ups who have annual revenue of about $200-500M and working with them on continued profit and growth solutions.
2. Could you please share your noted milestones, accomplishments throughout your journey so far along with company highlights and achievements under your leadership.
Lindsey Myers founded Concrete Blonde Consulting in November 2016 to pursue her passion for building reputations and revenues through business development marketing strategies. The company has since been named one of the “Top 15 PR Agencies in New York” by The Manifest and one of the “Top 10 Best PR Agencies” by Web Surf Media.
Myers provides profit and growth solutions and thrives as a consultant. A communications expert and entrepreneur, she has over twelve-years of experience serving various industries including consumer products and services, tech, lifestyle, hospitality and nonprofit companies in NYC and the Hamptons luxury market. And in 2018, Insights Success magazine named her one of the “30 Most Innovative CEOs” of the year.
She graduated from Boston University with a BS in Communications and concentration in PR. She began her career at WordHampton Public Relations , a firm headquartered in East Hampton, NY and ranked by Jack O’Dwyer’s as one of the country’s “Top 100 Independent PR firms”. In 2013, she made partner and was chosen to launch the company’s NYC division.
Recognized as a strategic leader, she has earned a track record for counseling clients, including Fortune 500 companies such as NAPCO Security, Inc., to increase profits, manage brand reputations and gain market share. She’s continually driven by her enterprising spirit and innate understanding of consumer influence. She takes ownership of the business she supports and partners with clients.
Professional, confident and well-respected by her peers, she has also been a guest lecturer at several universities including Hofstra University and Saint Joseph’s University, possessing a presence people often find unforgettable.
Her leadership and expertise have earned her numerous accolades throughout her career including; PRSA Big Apple award, PRSA Bronze Anvil award, eight MarCom awards, nine Fair Media Council Folio awards, Communicator award, SABRE award and an Excellence in Communications award.
3. Please tell us about the business model you follow and the services you provide that makes the brand unique in the mid of cut throat competition.
My business model is a standard consultancy. I take a retainer upfront from clients and then work time-against-money, like a lawyer would, until it runs out. I specialize in public relations campaigns and crisis communications. Our brand is unique in that we handle a lot of upfront strategy development and aim our campaigns towards the profit and growth goals of each individual client. Every campaign is completely unique to the specific clients’ objectives and we create a tactical plan to help achieve those goals and support the overall business.
4. Please share the most memorable and remarkable moment of your life.
I like to believe that it hasn’t happened yet! In order to stay relevant in the fast paced world of PR you always have to be looking ahead. You’re only as good as your next placement. I believe it’s necessary to have a mindset that nothing is more remarkable than what you are going to do tomorrow and it’s never a good time to rest on your laurels.
That said, I’m particularly proud of the day I launched Concrete Blonde Consulting. It took a lot of courage and strength for me to take a leap of faith and go out on my own.
5. Where do you see yourself and the company in future? Or, what is your goal to mark the uniqueness in future?
We’d like to scale our impact in the future and I’d really like to continue to grow in the fields of aerospace, healthcare and the environment. I believe these three industries have a large role to play in the development of our global community and I’d like to see us get more involved with shaping the world in which we live.
6. Advise for the budding women in tech who are trying to embark in the same field.
The true strength of the wolf isn’t fang, speed and skill — it’s the pack! Ladies, build yourself a pack. The most important thing you can do for yourself is nurture your relationships and build a group of other professionals who compliment your skills. Help build them up. Be generous with your time and expertise and the gift you receive in return will be three-fold.
7. What is the one thing that is acting as your motivational tool? Or, who is your role model and how the person inspires and motivates you?
I have a vision board that I look at everyday. It contains words that remind me of the type of person I need to be in order to do the things I want to do and on the outside there are pictures of the things I’d like to have. I believe that in life you get what you expect, not what you want so you need to learn to expect that the things you desire are within reach.
My role models are Oprah, Shonda Rhimes and Martha Stewart. When I look at the empires they have built and the impact they have had on the lives of others I am always inspired!
