About the Leading Light of Satyan
Satish Yadnik is the Founder & Director of Satyan Consulting Engineers. He is a Chemical Engineer from a renowned institute LIT Nagpur and holds more than three decades of experience in process design, especially in starch, alcohol, and evaporators.
Satish was involved in various technical tie-ups with Katzen, Delta-T and Dorr Oliver for starch and alcohol processes while working for his previous company Alfa Laval. He has achieved several milestones in process development in the alcohol and starch segment. Moreover, he travelled to Europe, Southeast Asian countries, and the US for business development while working with Alfa Laval.
Satish also has experience in handling complete project management in Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Indonesia. He designed the first cane juice to alcohol plant of 15KL/day while working with Alfa Laval and managed the first turnkey alcohol plant by Alfa Laval in Vietnam. The technology for this plant was from Katzen in the USA. Satish also worked on a 1200KLPD Ethanol plant design for a US based customer.
To add more to his key capabilities, Satish also holds exposure to both Katzen and Delta-T technology since he was instrumental in technology collaboration agreements for fuel ethanol and grain-based alcohol process.
Milestones Achieved
In 2006, Satyan was established and took up projects in the US and Canada.
After the 2008 recession Satyan’s growth slowed down in the US/North America. Hence, Yadnik & his team focused on the Indian subcontinent and neighboring countries. With the help of supportive government policies, the business geared up, especially in the distillery and evaporator space. Later, the starch segment evolved gradually and gave the company good start from 2010-2019. With a pandemic setting in, the modalities of the business changed drastically.
With these changing circumstances, the business quickly adapted to remote working, developed templatized solutions, and focused on technical fine-tuning, process improvements and stream-wise skill development.

The Future of Satyan
While it is noticing a tremendous uptick, the ethanol market will consolidate in India in the next 5 years. SCE believes Greenfield projects will dry up, and most of the work will focus on brownfield and improvement projects, while these projects need specific expertise from a process side.
Hence, Satish is developing the team accordingly and building design skills in-house over software like ChemCAD and Aspen.
Also, since starch is an evergreen field, the company is growing its team in this segment. From a long-term perspective, the company is betting big on this industry as well as vertical for its immense growth.
“We are exploring other green energy sectors like bio-CNG/CBG and biomass-based pellets as boiler fuel, through technology tie-ups, to keep the order inflows”, says Yadnik.
