The conventional answer would be that we are a workplace design firm, but we are a lot more unconventional than that! Established in 2008, Zyeta is an open creative collective of professionals working towards disrupting the AEC industry with innovative, next-gen design processes and approaches.
Disruption for us is creation; the creation of something unimagined, something that helps our clients be the best in their genres and makes us the best in our genre of creating seamless, future-ready workspace experiences.
What unique solutions or services does your company offer at par with the present industry standards?
Zyeta is a workplace design and build firm, that offers clients end-to-end management and execution of the project lifecycle. Our hyper-converged capabilities have led us to master this integrated approach. Our diverse team of designers, project managers, engineers, safety officers, procurement professionals, WELL APs, and LEED consultants helps our clients save time, money, and energy that would otherwise be spent dealing with multiple stakeholders in a project. Also, this hyper converged and client-centric approach helps us offer the best value to our clients in terms of design excellence and project delivery.
In addition to design and build, our team of WELL-accredited professionals takes care of WELL and WELL Health & Safety Rating (HSR) certifications, which emphasize people’s health and wellness, thereby enabling workspaces to meet global standards.
Moreover, we are the first in the APAC region to implement BIM in interior design, making our designs and processes more efficient.
Please enlighten us about the Founder/CEO of the company.
The idea of revolutionizing work and workplaces has been a breakthrough discovery by our founders, Shilpa Revankar and Amit Prakash, who constantly fuel motivation and passion in teams to nurture Zyeta’s creative journey. With five offices in India and a global clientele, this creative journey has grown wider, higher, and further.
One key contributor to this journey is Smitha Naik Deshpande, Principal and Director at Zyeta-Pune. Smitha adds more depth to this idea of challenging convention, and her design and business acumen have been a springboard for Zyeta’s creativity as well as her sustained business success.
What tool/technique does your company leverage to satisfy customers’ needs?
We are creative renegades. As mentioned earlier, we are the first in the APAC industry to implement BIM in workplace interiors. We have designed the world’s first WELL HSR-rated workplace and India’s first WELL-certified co-working space.
While there has been a lot done in the past, we are always keen on looking forward and helping our clients be resilient for the future. This enables us to keep upgrading our processes and finding new ways to keep track of industry evolutions.
This is reflected in our IoT-enabled designs, the integration of technology and innovation in project management, as well as the use of AR and VR for visualization and project execution.
What strategies and techniques do you follow to surpass the company/industry disciplines?
We use creativity to help businesses acquire a greater share of the future. In addition to this, we use trending design tools and calibration methods to offer the best to the client. But we also believe that in order to offer the best to our clients, we need to offer the best work environment to our employees.
Zyeta works on a flat hierarchy. We believe in having a low power distance index. Power is shared, and with power comes responsibility. This enables our teams to think differently, take ownership, and deliver the best for the client, the brand, and their own personal growth.
With an open and nurtured culture, people at Zyeta are enthusiastic to learn and develop skills, thereby inducing new-age technology and innovation in our processes across all verticals. Thus, by empowering the workforce to believe in themselves, learn, upskill, fly high, and even take a pause when needed, we ensure that creativity breeds in the team and that technology blends in well.
What are the major challenges you confronted at the starting phase? How could you overcome them?
The foremost major challenge that we came across was the presence of globally established brands and multiple players in the already established workplace interiors industry. To overcome this, we first analyzed these global firms and realized that, though they have a standardized approach to workplace design, this was in turn creating a cultural gap between the workforce and the workplace as their working strategy was not revisited with the ever-changing dynamics of workplace functioning.
We thus tried to understand the regional differences and their design solutions. Over time, we developed the process of placing people over processes to devise a design approach that caters to the varied needs of the workforce and their psychological, physiological, and cultural sensibilities.
Our approach involves developing an end-to-end workplace experience for brands and their people. In a nutshell, we have established a reputation in the market for making the client’s business requirements effectively streamlined through design and a people-first approach.
Which was the turning point for your company?
Though every milestone, the completion of every project, and the association with every Zyetan have been turning points for us, there are two major turning points for our brand.
First, amidst the pandemic, we as a brand stood strong and were able to retain our talent and deliver projects on time to overseas clients via the integration of AR and VR. This opportunity not only helped us to extend our own capabilities but also to discover new ways of working.
Second, winning at the International Property Awards, followed by multiple awards and recognitions on a global level. This gave us a glimpse of practices around the world and set new milestones for us to be better versions of ourselves as a globally recognized brand.
What is your success mantra to stay abreast of the competition in today’s market?
Dream it, do it! We do not refrain from rethinking, reimagining, and aiming to achieve even something that seems to be the toughest to achieve.
What would you like to share with our budding entrepreneurs?
Culture and people reflect the competency of a company. To build a strong business, first build a strong community within it and invest in their interests to have them invest in yours.
Are there any current projects you are working on? What makes them special?
We have delivered projects across a wide range of industries, such as defense and aerospace brands, engineering and manufacturing companies, the banking sector, major B2B brands, oil and energy, semiconductors, global consulting, and digital transformation companies across India.
Where do you see the future of your company? Share with us your future plans/endeavors.
We have established the journey of doing things differently and showcasing multiple possibilities to the industry. This makes us thought leaders in our space, and we aim to develop further on that front.
